In the league cup final Weldon scored early through Michael Chong. Weldon should have gone further ahead but a mix of poor finishing and good last gasp defending kept Eleanor in it. Weldon were pegged back by a wonderful goal from distance just before half time. The second half was a timid afair but came to life when Weldon were awarded an 86th minute penalty which resulted in an Eleanor defender being given his marching orders. Michael Chong stepped up to win it for Weldon but a poor penalty was easily saved by the keeper. Extra time was a topsy turvy half hour with Eleanor scoring in the 110th minute to secure the cup. This was the end of a good but ultimately disappointing season.
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
